CUSTOMS PROTECTED BY THE CONSTITUTION OF THE US, AND FOLLOWED
IN PRISONS ACROSS THE NATION
PRIVATE WORSHIP-Individual worship is required, as Wicca stresses
Spiritual practice as well as working in daily life, for the
betterment of self and others.
CORPORATE, GROUP/CIRCLE WORSHIP-Wiccans hold respect and belief
in the power of ‘common prayer’ focused on the fulfillment
of a goal, such as healing. Prayerful and social interaction
also are used as time of inspiration, balance and beneficial
to the participant on all aspects of recovery of the life and
soul.
HIERARCHAL LEADERSHIP-In an environs where there is a visiting
HP/S, or clergy, the service is lead by that person or volunteer.
If the rites are led by an Inmate Rep, as is often the case
IN ISLAM, the position should be rotated or chosen by divination.
In my affiliated groups, the founder of the group, or teacher,
if in good stead with the institution, majority of the group
and with CPWC, will lead, and share the work, as others learn.
AUTHORITATIVE TEXT-As WICCA teaches the importance of TIMELESS
WISDOM AND TRUTH, so do we also acknowledge that the passing
of millennia, cultural interaction on a Global level, new marvels
in medicine, technology ,culture, etc. demand that we hold fast
to our primary TRUTH…The WICCAN REDE-“HARM NONE”
and THE THREEFOLD LAW OF RETURN-“WHAT YOU SEND OUT COMES
BACK THREE TIMES OVER.”
BUT, we also know that life is complex, and not linear. There
are circumstances that warrant behaviors beyond THIS or THAT.
WE WORK FOR THE GOOD OF COMMUNITY, WORLD, SELF. ANY text that
teaches this sacred work, that enforces our beliefs is considered
a gift of wisdom, and respected as such.
DIET-Wiccans can be Vegan, Vegetarian, or simply follow a diet
that includes meat, dairy, eggs. WE DO HAVE COMMUNION, at Rites,
that should consist of a juice and bread product. We also honor
our 8 SABBATS, with a meal together, as is customary with the
Jewish faith, at Sukkoth, Passover etc and the Muslim faith at
Ramadan, after a Fast.
SACRED MEDALLION-A FIVE POINTED STAR or PENTACLE is generally
worn, to represent THE PENTACOST, as we experience it…THE
UNION OF DEITY AND HUMANITY, represented by EARTH, AIR, FIRE,
WATER and SPIRIT. It can be worn out of view, and less than
1.5” in diameter. Worn point up, will create less controversy,
for a populace and staff, unlearned in RITUAL SYMBOLISM. This
lesser seal of Solomon, also represents the 5 Pillars of Islam,
and thus, is or can be worn by those of that faith.
NOTE -ALL SACRED SYMBOLS CAN BE BASTARDIZED BY GANG, CRIMINAL
GROUPS ETC. (AND ARE!)
An alternate symbol, for Wicca would be the threefold moon or
star.
For Islam, perhaps a star and crescent.
ACCREDITED REPRESENTATIVE-If possible, access to an approved
High Priest or Priestess is required, and can be there by visitation
at appointed traditional and regular times. IF no such person
lives in proximity, the group should meet on regular Sabbats,
as required by Wicca and Laws of the United States.

OUR SABBATS, or Holydays, correspond with the Western European
Harvest WHEEL OF THE YEAR.
DIVINATION-Wiccans seek the inspiration of the DIVINE through
use of TAROT CARDS, PLAYING CARDS, ETC. NOTE: In order to keep
SECURITY and PROTOCOLS CODES AND SYMBOLS…Decks of Tarot
come with a booklet that gives the Artist’s meaning of
each artwork. I suggest the Chaplain keep a photocopy of it.
A Wiccan Inmate with access to Divination, can use this Inspiration
to better life, both inside and at RELEASE, WHERE A LIFE PLAN
IS VITAL TO SUCCESS.
RITUAL TOOLS REQUIRED FOR ALTAR:
WAND-can be a feather, or a piece of wood, such as a Popsicle
Stick.
CHALICE-a cup used at our Bread and Juice blessing. Except
for the symbols, the cup used by the Catholic group, is exactly
the type Wiccans use…it can be plain and the group can
choose to decorate it with relevant sacred symbols. A cup from
the Commissary, in Plastic can also serve, if it is treated
with respect, and changed when the group can acquire a more
suitable one.
SALT AND WATER ARE NEEDED AT EACH RITUAL, AS IS A CANDLE, STICK
INCENSE, Natural or Organic SCENTED OIL OR WATER, SUCH AS ROSE
WATER…..FOR CONSECRATION AND ANOINTING. (less then 1 oz.
Per rite)
ATHAME-RITUAL KNIFE USED TO DIRECT ENERGY-can be a photo or
drawing of an athame.
ALTAR CLOTH/PRAYER CLOTH-Our version of a prayer rug, has very
practical use….it is a square, with small pockets at the
corners, where a symbol of each direction is placed. If the
Pentacle is drawn or sewn in it’s center, it is an instant
altar for group and singular use.

WEST-SEA SHELL, RAINWATER
SOUTH-INCENSE, SMALL CRYSTAL, CANDLE
NORTH- A SMALL STONE, CUP OF EARTH, FLOWER PETALS
OTHER NECESSARY ITEMS-SMALL BOWL, CANDLE HOLDER, BLANK PAPER,
PHOTOS
OR ARTWORKS REPRESENTING OUR GOD/DESS
CREATIVITY IS A PART OF HOW WICCANS UTILIZE THEIR FAITH. ACCESS
TO ART AND CRAFT WORK IS NECESSARY FOR THIS PRACTICE. ITEMS
SUCH AS THREADS, MODELING CLAY, ART PAPER, PAINTS, COLORED MARKERS
ALLOW FOR THE GROUP TO EXPRESS THEIR ‘INTENT’ FOR
THE SELF OR THE GROUP, IN A BEAUTIFUL WAY. IT ALSO BONDS THE
GROUP AND LEADS TO KINSHIP.
A STORAGE BOX FOR ALL SACRED ITEMS IS REQUIRED. IT SHOULD BE
OPENED ONLY BY WICCANS, OR IN THE PRESENCE OF THE CHAPLAIN AND
WARDEN. TO DEFILE SACRED ITEMS DENIGRATES THE SPIRITUAL PRACTICES
OF BOTH THE RELIGIOUS PRACTITIONER AND THE PERPETRATOR. IT IS
ALSO A HATE CRIME AND AGAINST THE LAW.
JOURNAL-SELF EXPRESSION is a part of our private prayer work
and journaling is a part of that work. It lends itself to healing,
clarity and venting of anxiety, anger, frustration, as well
as well being, joy and inspiration.
THIS BOOK OF SHADOWS ALSO HOLD INSPIRED RITUALS, AND SHOULD
NOT BE OPENED OUTSIDE OF THE PRESENCE OF A PRACTITIONER, THE
WARDEN AND CHAPLAIN.
